The slide shows below is a virtual journey to parts of the Irobland (Northern Ethiopia) which is often affected by recurrent droughts and stricken by persistent poverty. It shows rough, rugged terrain, the survival hardship of its inhabitants, and their innovative technique of soil conservation to grow some crops and vegetables for food. The slides also show the historical Catholic Church, the church-run school and the Daughters of Charity-run clinic at Alitena as well as the Dowhan town, the new administrative center of Irob, and the historical Ethiopian Orthodox Monastery of Gunde-Gunde.
